PEA is an endogenous fatty acid amide that helps regulate neuroinflammation and pain signaling by modulating mast cells and glial cells. Clinical studies suggest it may reduce neuropathic and chronic pain with a favorable safety profile.
Form: Micronized or ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide
Typical dose studied: 600 mg once or twice daily (600–1,200 mg/day)
Timing: With or without food
Micronized and ultramicronized formulations have the strongest clinical evidence. Best used as an adjunct to conventional pain management.
