What is it? / Overview
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is a required cofactor for coenzyme A, central to energy metabolism. Deficiency is rare, and current evidence does not support supplementation beyond nutritional adequacy for energy, fatigue, or general metabolic benefit in people without deficiency.
How is it used? / Administration
Form: Calcium pantothenate for nutritional adequacy. Pantethine is a distinct, separately studied compound for lipid effects — not interchangeable with ordinary pantothenic acid.
Typical dose studied: 5 mg/day (RDA) for nutritional adequacy
Timing: With food
Deficiency is rare given how widely B5 occurs in food. Pantethine (studied separately for modest LDL effects) is a different compound and should not be assumed to share standard B5's properties. No positive triggers — informational entry only.

Who should avoid it?
Already taking it? True B5 deficiency is rare given how widely it occurs in food. Generally well tolerated even at higher intakes.
