What is it? / Overview
Lion's Mane contains compounds that may stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) production and support neuronal function. Animal research is compelling but human studies remain small, with evidence for meaningful cognitive improvements in healthy adults still preliminary.
How is it used? / Administration
Form: Fruiting body extract standardized for hericenones, or mycelium standardized for erinacines (fruiting body generally preferred)
Typical dose studied: 500–3,000 mg/day (commonly 1,000–2,000 mg/day)
Timing: Morning or divided into two daily doses
Product quality varies substantially. Fruiting body extracts generally contain higher beta-glucan content than mycelium grown on grain. Very popular nootropic with promising but still preliminary evidence.
