Glucosamine sulfate may help reduce pain and improve function in some individuals with osteoarthritis particularly of the knee. Benefits tend to develop gradually over several weeks.

Timing: With food
Sulfate form has stronger evidence than hydrochloride. Not effective for acute injuries.
