Fucoidan is a sulfated polysaccharide found in brown seaweed with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties demonstrated in laboratory studies. Human research is still emerging — early trials suggest possible metabolic and immune benefits, but evidence is not yet strong enough for routine clinical recommendation.
Form: Purified fucoidan from brown seaweed (Fucus vesiculosus or Undaria pinnatifida)
Typical dose studied: 300–1,000 mg/day
Timing: With meals
Evidence is promising but largely preclinical and early clinical. Product quality and content vary considerably between manufacturers.
? Emerging / limited evidence
Avoid with: Bleeding disorder / Coagulopathy; Hyperthyroidism / Graves disease; Hypothyroidism / Hashimoto's thyroiditis
