What is it? / Overview
Fenugreek contains soluble fiber and steroidal saponins that may modestly improve glucose metabolism and increase libido in some individuals. Despite its popularity in testosterone supplements, studies generally show improvements in sexual function rather than substantial testosterone increases.
How is it used? / Administration
Form: Standardized seed extract (e.g. Testofen, or extracts standardized for saponins)
Typical dose studied: 500–600 mg/day standardized extract, or 5–25 g/day seed powder depending on indication
Timing: With meals
Evidence strongest for modest glycemic control improvements. Testosterone-boosting marketing claims considerably exceed current clinical evidence. Avoid medicinal doses before delivery in pregnancy specifically (possible uterine stimulation) -- this is not a breastfeeding caution, since fenugreek is a well-established galactagogue and is routinely recommended by lactation consultants.
