Arabinogalactan is a soluble prebiotic fiber that promotes the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and may enhance certain aspects of immune function. Human evidence suggests modest reductions in upper respiratory tract infections, though data remain limited.
Form: Larch (Western larch-derived) arabinogalactan
Typical dose studied: 4–8 g/day
Timing: With or without food
Functions primarily as a prebiotic fiber. Start with lower doses to improve GI tolerance.
? Emerging / limited evidence
Interacts with: Separate from oral medications by ~2 hours if GI symptoms occur
Already taking it? Increase dose gradually to reduce bloating -- those with significant intolerance to fermentable fibers may not tolerate this well regardless of dose.
