Activated charcoal's enormous porous surface area binds many compounds in the gut, which is genuinely useful for trapping certain toxins shortly after an acute poisoning under medical supervision -- but that same nonselective binding indiscriminately reduces absorption of medications, vitamins, and minerals.

Interacts with: All oral medications and supplements -- activated charcoal nonselectively binds drugs and nutrients in the gut, meaningfully reducing absorption of anything taken around the same time, including oral contraceptives and thyroid hormone; this is the dominant reason it's unsuitable as a routine daily supplement
Already taking it? Its only well-established use is acute poisoning/overdose management in a medical setting, not routine 'detox,' bloating relief, or whitening. If taking it regularly alongside any other medication or supplement, that combination is worth flagging to a doctor or pharmacist given the absorption-blocking mechanism.
